Safe events - educational projects of Warsaw and Kraków
Sanitary recommendations for particular industries will be announced once the process of consultations with businesses is complete. The meetings industry partnered up with local government to prepare for the forthcoming stage by initiating educational projects dedicated to staging safe events.
Founded in Warsaw on 19 May at the initiative of Events Industry Association and the city of Warsaw, the Council for Safe Events compiled a document with concrete proposals how to arrange events in these unprecedented conditions.
The goal of the document is to work out optimal procedures for venues, organisers and participants of exhibitions and business events with particular emphasis on protecting the health and life of production team and attendants and for gradual and controlled reopening of the sector of business meetings, trade shows and marketing and arts and culture events.
The work on the publication aimed at the whole MICE sector (corporate events, conferences, congresses and trade shows) was initiated by the SBE management board at the request of the industry, so that local government could easily implement the regulations immediately after Ministry of Development’s guidelines on sector’s reopening conditions enter into force. The project encompassed consultations with experts in the fields of law, safety and managing epidemics.

The second edition of the Kraków Network Together online conference was held on 28 May. The discussion centred on a document created by a project group composed of members of the Kraków-based initiative “Post-COVID event safety”.
As usual, the broadcast was started at 4pm and streamed on ICE Kraków Congress Centre’s Facebook fan page.
According to event’s organisers, the considerable interest shown in the subject matter tackled during its first edition inspired them to continue the discussion on event safety, the key topic that will make it possible for the meetings industry to return to business as usual. A built project team spent the last month developing new solutions and possible options of staging events in the post-COVID reality, taking into consideration all safety issues.
The conference involved attendants working on the above-mentioned document dedicated to the new event landscape, which acted as the main discussion topic and whose safety-related assumptions were analysed in great detail. The publication’s content was co-created by, i.a. representatives of event agencies and venues (including Tauron Arena Kraków, Expo Kraków, Forum Wydarzeń), delegates of Kraków hotels (the Osti-Hotele Group, Qubus, Novotel Double Tree by Hilton and Radisson Blu) and providers of event services. In addition, they were consulted with the TUgether Industry Crisis Management Team.
In the second section of the webinar, the current situation and presented solutions were covered by representatives of venues that signed the Power of 4 agreement in September 2016. Four conference venues joined their forces to secure congresses and conferences for Poland: Copernicus Conference Centre of the Copernicus Science Centre, Lublin Conference Centre, European Solidarity Centre and ICE Kraków Congress Centre. A delegate of Poznań Congress Centre was also invited to join the discussion. Polish Conference and Congress Association acted as educational partner of this section of Kraków Network Together.
The broadcast was streamed from the ICE Kraków Congress Centre, where the event’s hosts connected remotely with all five speakers. The Kraków Network Together online conference was staged by the city of Kraków and Kraków Festival Office, operator of ICE Kraków Congress Centre, in cooperation with Concept Music Art (CMA), technological partner and project member.
