The meeting involved speeches intended to showcase the significance of staging meetings and events for the city’s development and to encourage the academic milieu to actively secure events for Poland.

The list of speakers included Anna Jędrocha, President of the Polish Conference and Congress Association, who provided insight into the significance of the Polish Congress Ambassadors Programme for the growth of Poland’s congress market. The discussed programme is aimed at promoting Poland as a host destination of international congresses and conferences. Its main objective is to bring congresses to Poland and grant effective assistance in securing such events by Poles acting in the structures of international organisations, e.g. researchers and professionals representing various sectors. The programme has been run since 1998, from 2002 in cooperation with Polish Tourism Organisation Poland Convention Bureau.

Katarzyna Cioch, CEO at Polish Vascular Surgery Association (2016-2018 term) discussed the management of associations and their cooperation with Congress Patrons. Introduced as a result of changes made this year to Regulations of the Polish Congress Ambassadors Programme, the title of the Polish Congress Patron is a way of honouring and appreciating the role of sponsors supporting a staged meeting or event. This year the first title ever was awarded to the ADAMED Group for supporting the congress of the Polish Society for Vascular Surgery and educational undertakings held in partnership with the Society.

December meetings with Wrocław Ambassadors hold a firm place in the meetings calendar of the PCB unit. We try to support local initiatives and showcase the importance of cooperation between business and science. Securing a congress calls for demonstrating both logistical resources and expert knowledge required for building a high-level and intriguing informative programme of a given meeting. Poland has new and mixed-use venues but without Ambassadors we won’t be able to fill them with meetings and events. In addition, we need cooperation and, obviously, good intentions and belief in success”, said Aneta Książek of Polish Tourism Organisation Poland Convention Bureau.

At the end of the meeting, on behalf of Robert Andrzejczyk, President of Polish Tourism Organisation, POT PCB’s recommendation certificate was presented to Convention Bureau - Wrocław, in recognition of its professional activities, experience, good practices, great devotion and team’s contribution to the growth of the meetings industry in Wrocław.

Polish Tourism Organisation Poland Convention Bureau was a partner of the Wrocław meeting.
