Krakow honoured with the MICE Trend Award 2014
During the MICE & Business Travel Event gala held on Decmber 11th in Amsterdam, Krakow was recognised as ‘MICE Trendy Destination 2014’.
‘Krakow is increasingly often visited by tourists from the Netherlands. The most recent studies of tourist traffic demonstrate a double increase in the number of guests from the Netherlands as compared to the previous year*,’ says Magdalena Sroka, Deputy Mayor of Krakow, who met a day before with several dozen Dutch tour operators at the conference ‘Move Your Imagination – Eye on Poland’ organised by the Polish Tourist Organisation in Amsterdam.
‘KLM is launching a direct flight connection with Amsterdam; Krakow has been presented with the prestigious Zoover award for the best city trip destination in 2014; a modern conference centre has been established. All these events had to bring effects.’ These words of satisfaction were expressed by Andrzej Pawluszek, Deputy Director of the Foreign Centre of the Polish Tourist Organisation in Amsterdam, who received the award together with Dominika Szulc, Director of the Foreign Centre of the Polish Tourist Organisation in Amsterdam, during the MICE & Business Travel Event gala.
The capital of Małopolska carried out active promotion on the Dutch market. Together with the Polish Tourist Organisation it organises study visits for representatives of the tourist industry, journalists and bloggers; it attends tourist fairs and presentations for the industry. According to the Institute of Tourism in Warsaw, in 2013 Poland was visited by nearly 400,000 Dutchmen.
The title of the MICE Destination of the Year was awarded to Belgium (Poland was also nominated). The Best Hotel Network of the Year was the US Hilton, and the Best Airline – German AirBerlin. The winners are chosen by the journalists of the prestigious magazine ‘MICE & Business Travel’ with its seat in Amsterdam.
* In 2014, Krakow was visited by 77,000 Dutchmen.
