Fam trip for UK meeting organisers
A familiarisation trip for 12 representatives of the UK meetings industry was held in Warsaw on 7-9 April. Arranged by Hilton Worldwide, Poland Concept DMC, Warsaw Convention Bureau and Poland Convention Bureau Polish Tourist Organisation, the event was devised to introduce the guests to the capital’s offer and business potential.
The Warsaw stay was inaugurated by a presentation of the opportunities inherent in hosting meetings in the capital and Poland as a whole, followed by a tour of the Old Town. While compiling the programme, the organisers made sure to showcase the diversity of Warsaw’s business offer through visits to historical venues (Warsaw Fortress, Royal Castle and Kubicki Arcades, the Łazienki Królewskie palace-garden complex with the Stanisławowski Theatre), as well as their counterparts connected with the post-war and contemporary history (i.a. gardens of the University of Warsaw Library).
The participants certainly were not expecting the Easter lunch staged in an actual flat and offering them a chance to “meet the locals”. The guests were happy to taste traditional Polish Easter delicacies and learn how to decorate home-dyed Easter eggs. The group’s stay culminated with a ceremonious dinner hosted by Polish Tourist Organisation.
The British planners were impressed by Warsaw’s potential and the quality of services provided by the project’s partners.
