Eco-transformation in ICC in Katowice
This year’s Polish Congress Ambassadors Gala, coming soon in October, will be hosted by the International Conference Centre in Katowice, a venue where an eco-transformation is scheduled to take place.
The operator of ICC and the Spodek arena believes that the two venues’ undertakings should follow the rules of sustainable development and responsibility, optimally reducing their environmental impact. In consequence, the plans of related continuous investments are intended to involve contractors specializing in innovative eco-friendly construction solutions.
Already now entrance roads to Spodek and ICC apply thermal insulation limiting heat transfer, the recent renovation of Spodek toilets introduced a detection system reducing water consumption, while the ICC roof of about 3,000 m2 is covered with green grass.
Spodek arena and International Conference Centre are annually visited by 1.2 million guests and spectators. Each year the two venues host about 500 events, including major enterprises, such as the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP24) in 2018, the World Conference on Doping in Sport in 2019, and the World Urban Forum planned to take place in 2022. In turn, the Polish Congress Ambassadors Gala, which ICC will host for the second time (previously in 2015) belongs to a category of prestigious events gathering eminent figures representing Polish science, business and culture. Don't forget to mark your calendar for 21 October 2019.
