“By choosing Katowice, the organisers of WOMEX trade fair and festival confirmed that our city is one of the most important music centres not only in Poland, but also in the whole of Europe”, said Marcin Krupa, Mayor of Katowice. WOMEX stands out due to its remarkable scope. Last year, the Budapest-set event was attended by more than 2,500 delegates representing 1,500 enterprises from 90 countries. 280 musicians from 50 countries performed on seven stages. Last year’s edition also involved 320 domestic and foreign journalists.

WOMEX dates back to 1994 and its previous editions have been arranged in Berlin, Seville and Copenhagen, among other cities. The Katowice meetings will be held at the International Conference Centre and the concert hall of the National Symphonic Orchestra in Katowice.
