On Saturday 4 September, residents of the Czech capital could immerse themselves in a truly Polish atmosphere. The Polish Institute in Prague organised the Polish Day in the gardens of the Polish Embassy in Prague. It was an event full of attractions related to our country, aimed at promoting Poland in a comprehensive way among Czechs. Attendees enjoyed numerous performances, music distractions, delights of Polish cuisine, as well as the promotion of tourism in Polish regions. The main sponsor, ORLEN Unipetrol, parked its EDObus – a mobile chemical laboratory – in front of the Embassy.

Also present was the Polish Tourism Organisation, through a stand with promotional materials and gadgets for the guests. A famous Czech actress, Jitka Ježková, was invited to talk about the show Bedekr – Poland, which is scheduled to be broadcast on Czech television next week.

Bedekr is a TV series in which popular Czech actors present ideas for unique travels. The next season will be all about Poland. The goal of the seventh season is to show the Czechs that they don’t need to go far to have an unforgettable holiday. All they need is to cross the Polish-Czech border to find a wealth of culture, excellent cuisine and a variety of nature (sea, lakes, mountains) waiting for them. The show will be broadcast weekly on Czech public TV channel 2 in prime time.

The regions presenting their offer on Polish Day included the Dolnośląskie Voivodship with Wrocław and – quite exotic on the Czech market – Podlasie. The guests learned about some places of interest, such as Hydropolis, Kolejkowo, the Zajezdnia History Centre and the Museum of Pan Tadeusz.

The real hit was, of course, Polish food served in catering tents. Pierogi, bigos, cold meats, sausages, as well as beer and honey won the hearts of those in attendance at the Polish Day.
