All-Polish celebrations of World Tourism Day in Cieszyn
Celebrations of World Tourism Day, held in Cieszyn on 21 September, were attended by Robert Andrzejczyk, President of the Polish Tourism Organisation (Polska Organizacja Turystyczna - POT). On the same day the Ministry of Sport and Tourism together with POT, the Municipal Office in Cieszyn, the Association of Development and Regional Co-operation “Olza”, and Tauron Ciepło Co. Ltd. conducted a conference on “The tourism brand – the foundation of effective regional and national promotion”.
The meeting, held at Hotel Liburnia (Cieszyn), included a presentation of problems associated with, i.a. brand tourist products and ways of creating and promoting tourist products. The conference was attended by more than 130 participants, including representatives of the territorial self-government, the tourism industry and regions, as well as experts and many other persons concerned with the development and promotion of tourism. Jacek Janowski, Director of the Department of Tourist Products and Regional Cooperation at the Polish Tourism Organisation, and Adam Mikołajczyk, CEO/Best Place, acted as discussion moderators.
At a Gala held on 21 September in the Adam Mickiewicz Theatre in Cieszyn Dariusz Rogowski, Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, awarded Merits in Tourism honorary badges to persons distinguished for their contributions to tourism. A performance given by the Śląsk Song and Dance Ensemble enhanced the Gala.
